There is one set of recycling bins in the centre of Foral on the main road, all the other bins are for general waste. It is illegal to dump waste outside of these bins so for anyone who has large items to dispose of there are a number of options.
Take your rubbish load by car to one of the four local recycling centres (called ECO-CENTROS) run by the Municipality of Albufeira. There are skips for either general, gardening or building rubbish, and also a drop off point for electrical goods. There is no charge for this service, but you may be required to show your ID/Residency card to prove you live locally.

The bulky waste collection service remains available to residents. Requests should be made by contacting the Parish Council in advance by calling 282 574 385 , or in person during office hours at the Algoz Parish Council premises, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays. For scheduling purposes, residents should indicate the type and approximate quantity of waste.
Collection is exclusively for household waste that, due to its size, cannot be disposed of in regular containers, specifically furniture, mattresses, and household appliances. It also includes normal quantities of green waste resulting from gardens or the pruning of ornamental trees.
Waste from agricultural, economic, or large-scale land clearing activities is excluded from this service and must be requested through a specific service request. Construction and demolition waste is also excluded, specifically rubble, including concrete, bricks, ceramics, and other similar materials; materials containing asbestos, namely fiber cement or other products with asbestos fibers; mineral wool, such as glass wool or rock wool; as well as hazardous or contaminated waste. This exclusion also includes used cooking oils, motor oils and other lubricants, solvents, paints, varnishes and their contaminated packaging, industrial or commercial waste, as well as any other waste classified as hazardous under current legislation.
Regarding costs, please be advised that the service is generally provided free of charge for quantities considered normal within a domestic context. For classification purposes, a normal volume is considered to be that corresponding to a single load of the vehicle assigned to collection. Whenever the quantity of waste exceeds this capacity and more than one trip or additional load is necessary for its complete removal, such situations will be considered exceptional volumes. In these cases, each additional load, beyond the first, will be subject to a fee, currently 15€, according to the value stipulated in the current fee schedule. Situations involving large-scale cleanups or repeated requests may also be subject to specific evaluation by the competent services.
It is further informed that, for the purposes of evaluating repeated requests, a period of one calendar year will be considered, with the analysis being carried out based on requests originating from the same address.
It is also important to clarify that the current Regulations and Schedule of Fees and Licenses are in a transitional regime, remaining in force provisionally until the approval of new regulations and a separate schedule. Therefore, the previously defined rules continue to apply, thus ensuring administrative continuity, legal certainty, and equal treatment for all residents.
Response time may vary depending on service availability.
It is further informed that, regardless of the type of waste, the collection process should be facilitated as much as possible, with waste placed in accessible locations, preferably outside the home, and properly packaged for transport. It is also clarified that collection is carried out manually by the services, therefore the waste must allow for handling. In the case of green waste, it must also be properly packaged, cut into appropriate sizes and tied in bundles.
Additionally, once or twice a year we organise a litter pick up. Someone will organise some heavy duty rubbish bags, we meet up, bags distributed, off we go in different directions picking up roadside litter. Only takes a couple of hours, then we meet up again and the Junta will collect all the bags for disposal. Looking after our environment.
